Oil production peak is forecasted by many sources for the near future. The presentation will first make a quick historical review, will elaborate a little on energy conservation and then will analyze the different type of oil resources, which are abundant. However, transforming these resources into reserves and then production is becoming more challenging. The world oil production cannot increase indefinitely, but will reach a plateau (not a peak). This is not due to geology, but to technology and level of investment. Consequences for the oil and gas industry will be discussed.
