It is our pleasure to announce another event at the Digital and Cognitive Musicology Lab (DCML): a three-day workshop titled “Voice-leading schemata in theory, corpus research, and practical composition (Compose your own Chopin!)”. The workshop will take place from September 18-20, featuring the following speakers: Uri Rom, Nathan Martin, Felix Diergarten, David Sears, Martin Rohrmeier, Markus Neuwirth, and Christoph Finkensiep. A more detailed description and the schedule can be found on our website:

Note that this workshop is part of the project “From Bach to the Beatles – Exploring compositional building blocks and musical style change with hermeneutic and computational methods” funded by the Volkswagen Foundation in the context of the ‘Mixed Methods’ in the Humanities program.

We would like to draw particular attention to the talks and the panel discussion on Wednesday (Sept 19), which will address core issues of (musical) corpus research, the mixed-methods framework, and the relationship between “close” and “distant listening.”

We are looking forward to seeing you soon at the workshop.
