Coaching groups for female PhD students (and post-docs) organized by the program "Fix the Leaky Pipeline!"

By Dr. Sarah Shephard

5 sessions (1/2 day each) organized at EPFL to support scientific women in their career and professional choices. The first date is fixed, and the next ones are chosen with the coach.

Aims of coaching groups:
  •  To support scientists in their career planning process and to allow participants interchanging (Peer-Mentoring) and improving personal networking
  •  To make participants aware of possible alternatives to academic careers
  • To support them in decision reframing, in creativity processes, in getting over past conflicts, help them reflecting their own situation
  • To support them in applying for new jobs (how to improve application documents, preparation for interviews)

The Fix the Leaky Pipeline program offers young female scientists (PhD students, PhDs and others) the opportunity to reflect on their professional situations, develop a strategy for embarking or continuing on their career paths, receive targeted further training, and extend their personal and scientific networks. The aim, actively supported by all institutions of the ETH Domain, is to support women in their scientific careers and in the process to fix the 'leaky pipeline' of women in science.
