Summary
The PhD course "Communication in Science and Technology (CoST)" teaches the basic theories and skills of science communication, and discusses current topics with internal and external lecturers. The goal is to give an overview and prepare interested PhD scientists to the field of science communication. The course will be held from September to December 2022. Registration via IS-Academia.
Content
The course is composed of a series of EPFL internal lectures on various topics from the field, and multiple guest lectures from professionals all over the world. It covers topics such as the storytelling for science, scientific writing and styles, formats, audiences and exercises, investigative journalism, tech journalism, dealing with media and crisis, social media and other new formats, databases such as Wikipedia, and much more.
Guests
Guest lectures will be held from experts of University of Zurich, MIT, The New York Times and other institutions. President Martin Vetterli will also share his experience on the topic in an exclusive class.
