EIT Food is an initiative of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), part of Horizon 2020 framework. Since 2017 it has been working to encourage positive changes on the global Food Systems, to help make them more sustainable, safe, efficient and inclusive.
EIT Food is a consortia-based, bottom-up co-funding program with a total budget of Co- € 600 million (2017-2024). It helps financing projects of 3 distinct nature: Innovation (joint research programs), education (content creation) and business creation (entrepreneurs and start-ups development)
It gathers 79+ partners across Europe such as leading companies, research and education institutions or cities. They all support outreach and cover the complete value chain from farming to transformation, distribution, retailing, catering, consumer services and recycling. EPFL has been a core member of the association since the very first day. Therefore, EPFL researchers are fully eligible for EIT Food calls and funding for selected project proposals.
EIT Food opened a call for proposal 2021. This call describes the focus of the call, the evaluation process, the rules and eligibility as well as timeline for the application process.
