As part of Fusion Week, a global celebration of fusion energy, the Swiss Plasma Center and the Laboratory for Experimental Museology (eM+) are pleased to welcome you to their immersive exhibition: Fusion, beyond Fiction: a journey into the future of energy.

For the first time, step into EPFL’s star, the TCV tokamak – a machine that mimics the Sun’s conditions on Earth. Here, gas is heated to over 150 million degrees, ten times hotter than the Sun’s core. At this temperature, atomic nuclei fuse, releasing vast amounts of energy. This process, known as fusion, has the potential to provide humanity with a clean, abundant, and safe energy source.

Programme:

Join us daily from May 5th to May 9th for a 30-minute guided tour, an immersive experience open to all, offering a relaxed space for conversation, where you’re encouraged to ask questions and engage with scientists leading the way in fusion energy.

Each tour includes:
  • Immersion in the world of fusion with state-of-the-art 3D glasses and data visualization inside a digital twin of the SPC tokamak
  • A visit to the TCV tokamak, EPFL’s fusion research device that mimics the way the Sun works right here at the Swiss plasma center
  • A relaxed moment of exchange in our lounge area to connect with scientists and explore the future of clean energy
This experience was made possible through a groundbreaking collaboration between eM+, the EPFL Advanced Computing Hub, and the Swiss Plasma Center, turning terabytes of complex data into an accessible, interactive experience for both the public and the scientific community.

Tours are free but space is limited. Registration is required.

Come see the future of energy up close!
