Johannes Brahms - Ein Deutsches Requiem Op. 45

Pierre‑Fabien Roubaty direction, Charlotte Despaux soprano, Geoffroy Perruchoud baryton, Marine Thoreau la Salle piano, Florent Lattuga piano
    Duration: 70 min.
    > Program and artistic bio (pdf)

Inspired by Martin Luther's Bible, Brahms himself wrote the libretto for Ein Deutsches Requiem. Here, Brahms set out to create a German adaptation of the requiem mass, breaking with Latin Catholic traditions to establish a deeper connection with his audience. Throughout the work, the choir maintains the narrative framework, while the two soloists intervene from time to time to add a poignant touch to the whole.
