The Venice Time Machine and Parcels of Venice projects have been transforming archival records into structured, open datasets—unlocking new ways to study the long history of Venice through digital tools.
Venice Data Week 2025 invites master’s students, PhD candidates, postdoctoral researchers, and professionals in the humanities, digital humanities, and computer sciences to take part in a three-day, hands-on workshop dedicated to historical data exploration, interpretation, and visualization.
Participants will:
Lunches will be provided, and a limited number of travel scholarships (300 CHF) are available to support participation.
Certificates and credits are issued for participation, get informed!

- Work directly with the historical datasets on Venice
- Engage in collaborative group research projects
- Learn how to process, analyze, and visualize complex historical information using Python and web-based tools
- Explore new questions in urban, social, and economic history from the year 1000 to the 19th century
