Title:
Reshape the urban transportation landscape with mobility services
Abstract
The urban transportation system is undergoing a transformative revolution, driven by various emerging mobility services. These novel mobility solutions not only challenge classic transportation models but also motivate the research at HOMES. In this lecture, I will use our several recent studies to elaborate on how emerging mobility services have reshaped transportation research from both modeling and methodological perspectives. The lecture will begin with a discussion on ride-hailing and ride-sharing services, then delve into their interaction with general urban traffic networks, and finally conclude with a vision of a service-based urban mobility system.
About the speaker
Kenan Zhang joined ENAC as an assistant professor in September 2023 and leads the Human-Oriented Mobility Ecosystem (HOMES) Laboratory. Her research centers at the mathematical modeling, optimization and operations management of urban transportation systems, with special focus on emerging mobility services and technologies. She received her PhD in Transportation Engineering from Northwestern University, and before joining EPFL, she was a postdoctoral research at ETH Zurich. She was awarded the CEE Rising Star (2020) and COTA Best Dissertation Award (2023).
