From October 30 to November 6, EPFL will take part in the Virtual Conference on the theme of business air travel in the academic sector. Initiated by ETHZ, this conference will bring together participants from eight universities (amongst which Oxford, Yale and Cambridge) with the following objectives:
- Identify the professional, organizational and cultural factors that encourage the scientific community to travel frequently by air.
- Identify the measures – in particular technological and governance – to reduce air travel and environmental impacts, without, however, negatively influencing research quality.
- Examine the performance of video conference technologies between universities spread across different time zones.
